Welcome to the New Public Square

Welcome to civicspace.ca, a uniquely Canadian forum where the conversation about our country’s future comes alive. Here, respectful debate and thoughtful insight are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that by sharing our ideas and visions, we can together shape a better Canada—one that reflects our collective hopes, challenges, and the spirit of true democracy.

Our Purpose

civicspace.ca is more than just a website—it’s a community-driven space dedicated to discussing and debating the future of Canada. We invite Canadians from all walks of life to post well-reasoned, respectful articles (500 to 800 words) about the issues that matter most to our nation. Whether you’re dreaming big, questioning the status quo, or simply curious about what lies ahead, your voice has a place here.

How It Works

  • Membership Required:
To ensure that our discussions remain genuine and constructive, only registered members can submit articles. Signing up is simple: provide your name (first name is sufficient), a nickname or author name (which will appear on your articles), a valid email address, your city, the nearest major city (choose from our regularly updated list), your province or territory, and (optionally) your age group. Your details are kept private and are used solely to keep you informed through our newsletter and relevant site updates.

  • Article Submissions:
We encourage you to write articles that are insightful and grounded in facts. When crafting your piece, aim for clarity and respect—even when you challenge prevailing ideas. We welcome diverse opinions and creative visions for Canada’s future. Please adhere to our guidelines: articles should be between 500 and 800 words, and every submission must promote thoughtful discussion.

  • Engaging in the Conversation:
Our commenting system is designed to foster healthy debate. You can express your agreement with an article by awarding it between 1 (not so great) and 5 (fantastic) maples. A black maple indicates respectful disagreement. We ask that all comments remain free of personal attacks, disinformation, or unsupported claims. If you make factual assertions, be ready to support them with evidence.

Supporting the Vision

civicspace.ca is powered entirely by its donors. We refuse corporate funding to ensure that our space remains independent and true to our community’s values. Your donations, no matter the size, help cover site maintenance and development, keeping this platform open and accessible to all Canadians. While donations are not tax deductible, they play a vital role in sustaining our mission.
